Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) Kenya Report, 2014
Abstract
The Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) is the global standard for systematically monitoring adult tobacco use (smoking and smokeless) and tracking key tobacco control indicators. GATS Kenya is a nationally representative household survey of non-institutionalized men and women aged 15 years and older. The survey was designed to produce internationally comparable data for the country as a whole, and by gender and place of residence (urban/rural). GATS Kenya was conducted by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) under the coordination of the Ministry of Health. Technical assistance was provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Financial support is provided by the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use through the CDC Foundation with a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and program support was provided by the CDC Foundation.
