National Agriculture Production Report 2024
Abstract
The National Agriculture Production Report 2024, prepared by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, presents data on the production, area, yields, prices, trade and county performance of food crops, industrial crops, horticulture and livestock for 2023. Agriculture accounted for 21.8 per cent of GDP in 2023. The area under tea increased from 225.8 thousand hectares in 2022 to 227.8 thousand hectares in 2023 and green leaf production rose to 2,423.6 thousand tonnes, while sugar production declined by 40.8 per cent to 473.9 thousand tonnes owing to the temporary closure of milling factories.
