Report on the 2017 Kenya Census of Establishments (CoE)

Abstract

KNBS is therefore pleased to publish the results of this census which aimed at investigating economic activities of establishments. This also involved identifying the structure of establishments in all industries both at the national and the county levels. The Census was designed to produce a comprehensive and updated data profile of establishments operating in Kenya which would be used to revamp the business register that would be utilized in carrying out future economic surveys. The census covered firms /establishments in the formal sector of the economy. It involved individual proprietorships, privately owned establishments, national and county public entities as well as international agencies. These entities were all classified as per the International Standard of Industrial Classifications (ISIC) revision 4.
