Kenya Construction Input Price Index Fourth Quarter 2022
Abstract
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics hereby releases Construction Input Price Indices (CIPI) for the Third quarter of 2022. The CIPI comprises of the Building Cost Indices, Civil Engineering Cost Indices and the Overall Construction Cost Indices as shown in Tables 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The indices were generated from price data collected from a representative sample of outlets of construction inputs. The data is collected quarterly, with reference to the 15th day of the mid-month of the quarter. The Building Cost Index is an indicator showing the trend in the cost of construction of new buildings. The Building Cost Index recorded a value of 112.18, which represents a 1.65 per cent quarterly decrease from the second Quarter of 2022. This decline was mainly due to drop in price of cement, reinforcement steel, quarry products and glass products. However, there was a 3.18 percent increase in the cost of fuels in the same period.
