Abstract

In Jan-Mar 2022 the port handled 8.6 million tons against 9.6 million tons registered in the same period in 2021 representing a decrease of 958,000 tons or 10.0% .Number of Vessels handled at the Port between January to March 2022 a decline of 6.6% from 422 handled in a similar period of 2021.Imports accounted for more than 78% of the Total Through put handled between January to March 2022.Total volume of Trade rose from KSh 701 bn in Q1 of 2021 to KSh 802 bn in Q1 of 2022.Imports stood at KSh 593 bn in Q1 of 2022, a 16.5% increase from KSh 509bn in Q1 2021.otal Exports in Q1 of 2022 were valued at KSh 209 bn from KSh 192 bn in Q1 of 2021.
