Foreign Investment Survey 2015: Preliminary Report
Abstract
Lessons from the global financial and economic crisis and the sovereign debt crisis have shown that, while foreign investments have become increasingly important for developing economies, they are also sources of vulnerabilities to such economies. This has called for collection of quality data on foreign assets and liabilities in an effort to establish the type, magnitude and direction of private capital flows as well as investor perceptions on investment climate. Kenya recognizes the importance and potential risks associated with private foreign capital . Foreign Investment Surveys are intended to collect timely and reliable data on foreign capital flows. Foreign Investment Survey (FIS) 2015 is the third survey in the series since 2010 that captured data on foreign liabilities and assets, international trade, employment for 2012 and 2013; and investor perception on the investment climate in 2015.
